Brideys cross is a Celtic charm, also symbolic of the solar cross and the fire festivals of the year... The Irish goddess Brighid to the ethnic European from Celtic age presides over hearth and home. Bridey is also known as a Gottess of the crossroads, with her spirit animal the fox. Brideys cross not only symbolises and the fire seasons on the wheel but also the place where two worlds meet, with the year at a crossroads between light and dark. A Brighid’s Cross can be purchased but I think it’s more special to make your own. This version is super easy with pipe cleaners and I have added a link to one I made previously with red straw. So gather some fluffy pipe cleaners and weave away, even get some friends or neighbours to join in. In this version I chose white chenille pipe cleaners, to represent the snow. Brighid or Bridey is not the ‘appropriated’ Saint Brighid. Appropriated by the Middle Eastern Semitic religion of Christianity, which is not European and is an anti nature/woman cult. Another tradition with Brideys cross is burning it as an effigy after a year and returning the ashes to the earth, before weaving one anew, maybe not with this pipe cleaner version. Personally I place my Bridey cross above my oven. That said, I don’t weave just one Bridey cross. From chapter 'Ancestral Deity Charms' Used;
